• Stimulation of immune cells
• Anti-inflammatory mechanism
• Respiratory support
Andrographis Paniculata, also known as Kalmegh or the “King of Bitters,” is an herb traditionally used in both Functional and Traditional Chinese Medicine to treat respiratory infections, fever, and general immune weakness. The primary active compounds, andrographolides, are responsible for its immune-modulating and anti-inflammatory properties. Andrographis is especially effective in treating upper respiratory tract infections, reducing symptoms such as sore throat, fever, cough, and nasal congestion. It has been studied extensively for its ability to support immune function and shorten the duration of colds and flu.
Supports immune system and shortens common colds and flus.
Immune Enhancement: Andrographis has been shown to stimulate immune cells, including macrophages and natural killer cells, enhancing the body's ability to fight off infections. Andrographolides, the active compounds in Andrographis, are thought to exert antiviral effects by inhibiting viral replication.
Anti-inflammatory Mechanism: Andrographis inhibits the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines such as TNF-α and IL-6, which play a major role in the body’s inflammatory response. This makes Andrographis a valuable herb for reducing inflammation during infections and chronic inflammatory conditions.
Respiratory Support: Multiple studies have shown that Andrographis helps relieve respiratory symptoms such as cough, nasal congestion, and sore throat by reducing mucus production and improving lung function. This herb has been used traditionally as a remedy for bronchitis, sinusitis, and general lung infections.
Regular use of Andrographis may result in reduced cold and flu duration, enhanced immune function, and improved recovery from respiratory infections. It is also beneficial for managing inflammatory symptoms and providing long-term support for the immune system.
